We were assigned to play 5 educational games and reflect on them. Firstly, I played the Spent game, which I believe is the most interesting of all the games I played, it is very complex and engaging, It had good visuals and was very user friendly. I learned that it is really hard to run a house, nevertheless, really stressful, I thought that one could relate to his parents who go through the same difficulty, one thing I think should be improved is that the decisions should always lead to the player losing all his money, after all, it is a game that empathizes poverty. The second game was the BBC Syrian Refugees, it was not really a game type, it was more of an article that has been changed to form a game, it had a lot of texts, which is not a feature that would attract the attention of the player. Yet, I felt really bad for the Syrian refugees and what they have to go through in order to continue living. The third game was the depression quest, which is raise awareness about depression, I thought that I could really relate to what’s in the game, however, the controls in this game were not good, and again it had a lot of texts and no visuals or audio that would attract the attention of the player, it is good that more people are beginning to notice the danger of depression and how it should be tackled to help our society. The fourth game was about domestic abuse, although this game had texts in it, but it was short and to the point, which I found better than the previous game, it was about domestic violence to tackle this serious problem that can secretly be in any one’s house, the game raises awareness on such a problem; yet, the game would be much more interesting if it contained more visuals. The last game was gender equality, which was the simplest game of the games I played, it showed how some girls suffer from inequality in different areas, which is a serious thing in Egypt, the game had no visuals, video or audio which was not very engaging, it was done on a power point and most of the decisions were made to lead to one consequence, the topic of the game was good but the actual game was not that good.
